ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany police arrested two people while investigating shots fired on Ontario Street on Monday. They say that Jessica Hillebrandt, 20, of Troy, and Kenyon Hernandez, 20, of Albany were taken into custody for different reasons. Police responded to Madison Avenue and Ontario Street just before 6 p.m. for reports of shots fired, finding evidence consistent with shots fired on the scene. They said that no injuries were reported.Shortly thereafter, investigating police on the scene encountered a woman—now identified as Hillebrandt—exiting an Ontario Street home and stopped her. They said that she had a 9mm handgun concealed in her bag. According to the Albany Police Department, she does not have a gun license, and the weapon is a ghost gun. She now faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence. FLORISSANT, Mo. - A new report released Tuesday by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers deems Jana Elementary School as "safe" amid prolonged concerns over radioactive waste. The USACE St. Louis District released the first of three anticipated reports on sampling and testing for radioactive waste at the north county school. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - With travel on the rise again, a St. Charles County clinic is offering yellow fever vaccination for people going abroad for vacation or humanitarian work.According to the World Health Organization, yellow fever is an "acute viral hemorrhagic disease." Its name is derived from the jaundice that can affect some patients.Yellow fever is commonly found in parts of Africa and South America, and infects approximately 200,000 worldwide annually. A woman and her boyfriend who were convicted last month of torturing and killing the woman's 10-year-old son were sentenced to life in prison without the possible of parole.The office of former District Attorney Jackie Lacey initially sought the death penalty for the couple, 33-year-old Heather Maxine Barron and 37-year-old Kareem Ernesto Leiva, but current District Attorney George Gascón's office decided against it, making life in prison without parole the harshest punishment allowed.During the the victim impact statement portion of the hearing, one speaker asked the judge to give the couple "the maximum sentencing allowed.""These two are monsters, and monsters belong in cages. Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in front of King/Drew High School in Willowbrook early Tuesday.The shooting was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of East 120th Street.When deputies arrived around 8:30 a.m., they found the Black male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his head, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.He was pronounced dead at the scene.Sky5 footage showed the victim was found in a planter on campus, directly below a sign for the magnet school, which is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.KTLA has reached out to LAUSD to learn if the shooting involved anyone connected to the school.No further information was released.Anyone with information was encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Mattel, Inc. has released a Barbie doll with Down syndrome in an effort to help more children find a toy that represents themselves. The doll is a part of this year's Barbie Fashionistas lineup. To ensure accuracy, the toymaker says it worked closely with the National Down Syndrome Society. The organization helped the brand sculpt the doll as well as provide guidance on accessories. The doll features a new face shape and body sculpt to be "more illustrative of women with Down syndrome," Mattel said in a news release. Hit-and-Run Collision in Boyle Heights Severed 13-Year-old Boy’s LegLOS ANGELES, CA (April 23, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, a hit-and-run crash in Boyle Heights left Joshua Mora severely injured.The collision happened on March 30th, at around 3:30 p.m., at the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Orme Avenue.According to reports, a motorcyclist lost control of their vehicle and hit Mora at a crosswalk. However, the rider got back on his motorcycle after sliding approximately 80 feet and fled the scene.Responding medical personnel transported the boy to LAC + USC Medical Center for treatment.
